UNEMPLOYMENT AND THE GHANAIAN YOUTH.

Everyday I hear a lot of the youth complain that there are no jobs and that the system is so hard for them to even make a living not to talk of being able to afford two squared meal a day. Its their right to complain so far as they are entitled to their freedom of speech and expression.
Whenever they complain, the elderly tell them ohh you the you youth of today are lazy and you do not look for jobs yet you complain, you are not hardworking unlike our time.
After I hear this I ask myself, what about those guys out there in our lorry stations and markets who are always on the move, carrying peoples load just to get something small yet what they earn at the end of the day cannot even carter for the mornings meal. Are they lazy and not hardworking? What about those energetic young men in our villages who are always in the farm under the scotching striving hard to feed the Nation yet the rains never come. Are they also lazy and not hardworking? What about our mothers and sisters who leave the comfort of their homes to work in chop bars, wash the cloths and clean the houses of so called rich people, sit, stand and walk in the hot sun just to get something small from the sale of sachet water, tomatoes and what have you just to feed the younger ones at home. Are they also lazy and not hardworking? What of that school boy or girl, who burns the midnight candles just to pass the exam and be able to fit in society someday as a medical doctor or lawyer or teacher or a business man but is not granted admission even after making the good grades just because he/she has no protocol and it renders the person a drop out and a jobless one for that matter. Is this person also lazy and not hardworking? What about the brilliant beautiful student who refuses to sleep with the lecturer for a pass when she knows what she is made of? What about the female graduate who came out with a first class and also does not get any job to do just because, she refused to sleep with the boss to be granted a job. Is this person also lazy and not hardworking?
So now, is the unemployment among the youth as a result of laziness or as a result of the attitude of people in authority?
Fellow Ghanaians out there. I believe that the time has come for us to put an end to higher rate of favoritism and nepotism, bribery and corruption and the negative attitudes we possess in our country and give to Cesar what belongs to Cesar to make head way. We must put an end to awarding of contracts for developmental projects to people just because we have a relationship with them and are are going to be given a percentage of the money that is earned from the contract but rather award contracts to selfless people who are going to do the work as demanded of them with all their hearts and minds. We must also put an end to sleeping with people before we give them jobs even when they have the requirements of the job.We must put an end to diverting funds meant for the development of our communities into our pockets and our protruding stomachs
This should be the time when we call a spade a spade and not give it other names when others are ignorant of it.
This should be the time that red should be called red and black black. The time when we must love our neighbors as ourselves and not only think about our families. The time when people with the best grades are given admission to read courses that they are qualified to read in schools. The time when we should all see ourselves as one people with one culture, one identity and one destiny. The time when there is no difference between NDC and NPP, CPP and PNC, MUSLIM and CHRISTIAN, because if we really want our NATION GHANA to stand on its feet again, we must be together just like the broom and work together just like that ants and not just think about today but think about what the future holds for the generations yet unborn. I HAVE A DREAM THAT SOMEDAY, MY COUNTRY, YOUR COUNTRY, HIS COUNTRY, HER COUNTRY, THEIR COUnTRY, OUR COUNTRY GHANA WILL STAND ON HER FEET AND NO AMOUNT OF NEGATIVE INFLUENCE CAN CHANGE HER. CORRUPTION MUST STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!
LETS RISE UP FUTURE LEADERS AND PUT GHANA BACK ON HER FEET. THIS TIME IS OUR TIME.
GOD BLESS OUR HOMELAND GHANA.
